In Africa, one of the fabled love stories is that of weaverbirds, where the male builds an intricate woven nest to court a mate. One of the weavers, the Red-billed Quelea, is also one of the more breath-taking natural phenomena that you and your partner can share. As the world’s most abundant wild bird species, colonies include millions of pairs.

The breeding season begins in Botswana with the seasonal rains around November and in the Kruger during February, when the Queleas take to the air, manoeuvring as a single unit, changing direction simultaneously. They put on a coordinated aerial display that is truly amazing to observe and one of nature’s most colourful displays of love and courtship; providing an unparalleled sighting to share with a loved one.
