Southern Africa has on its West the mighty Atlantic Ocean and on its East the warm currents of the Indian Ocean. This provides habitats for an abundance of sea creatures. Amongst the most impressive are the Marine Big 5: the majestic Southern Right Whale that comes to calve in the sheltered bays; the notorious Great White Shark patrolling the deeper waters; the playful Cape Fur Seals who you can swim with; the Leatherback turtle that lays its eggs on the remote wild beaches and whose hatchlings later make their perilous journey back into the ocean; and the idiosyncratic African Penguins that nest where giant granite boulders tumble from the mountains into the ocean.
Encounters vary from ocean kayaking in False Bay; thrilling shark cage diving in Gaansbaai; walking with penguins on Boulder’s Beach; kite surfing in Blouberg; taking a catamaran sunset cruise; a pirate boat for kids; power boating adrenalin rush; or a pelagic boat tour. There are so many ways to explore it all.
