Getting to Know Us: Louise

Where I was born & grew up:
I was born and raised in Pretoria, the administrative capital of South Africa. We lived just outside the city on a smallholding experiencing farm living at its best (close enough, yet far enough from the busy city) and this is where my family still lives. As a family we often travelled around South Africa during school holidays, Kruger National Park in winter holidays and the coastline in summer. I am sure this is where my passion for travel began, exploring my own country from a very young age. We didn’t own a holiday home, my dad said he wanted to show us as many different destinations as possible. My husband and I have been living in
Cape Town for almost 10 years and love the natural beauty of this famous city.

My favourite destinations:
In South Africa my favourite is definitely the Garden Route area with its beautiful beaches, and Afro Montane forests. This is also where I’ve spent some time working right in the heart of the Tsitsikamma National Park overlooking the Indian Ccean from a forest cabin. Outside of South Africa a piece of my heart lies in Zambia. The South Luangwa National Park as well as the Lower Zambezi is a very special, true wilderness experience where animals and local tribes live in harmony (until the Elephants arrive in the village in search of fresh oranges!!)

Where I have travelled in Africa:
Locally, I’ve visited Cape Town, the Cape Winelands, KwaZulu-Natal, the Kruger National Park and Panorama Route, Sabi Sands Private Game Reserve, Johannesburg, Free state, the Eastern Cape and the Garden Route, Sun City, and Pilanesberg. In Africa I’ve travelled to Mozambique, Victoria Falls, Namibia, Okavango Delta, Chobe National Park, Zambia, Kenya and Zanzibar.

Where to next:
In Africa I would love to visit the Gorillas in Rwanda, Ngorongoro Crater in Tanzania and go Shoebill trekking in the northern wetlands of Zambia. Ethiopia is also on my bucket list. Abroad I would pick Italy, kayaking in Alaska, as well as my lifelong dream of visiting Antarctica.

Hobbies & interests:
The outdoors, hiking, climbing, kayaking. Travelling with family and loved ones and taking photos as an amateur photographer. Staying in Cape Town we are spoilt with choice, you can drive in any direction to experience natural beauty, be it the beach, the mountains, winelands or forests… all of my favourites!

Why I love what I do:
I love sharing our beautiful continent and all its uniqueness with first time visitors who are yet to experience all the special we
as locals are spoiled with. As travel is one of my passions, working on unique and on-of-a-kind itineraries makes my work exciting as I get to share a very special experience with our clients.
