Dubbed “a rockstar party for an incredible cause”, the true stars of the Wine Auction are the wines themselves. glo from all four corners of the globe for a decadent lunch, mesmerised by the opportunity to take possession of some of the finest, money-can’t-buy wines on the planet. The event culminates in a fierce bidding for the most rare and coveted lots and barrels.
Beyond a celebration of the finest wines from the inner sanctum of South African wine farms, the main purpose of the auction is to raise funds to support local education. To date, the event has raised a staggering R33million, distributed (without offset or deduction) to thirteen charities actively working with education, from infants to adults, throughout the Western Cape.
Each year the event is held on a different farm, giving guests the chance to explore new and magnificent venues. This year the prestigious venue is Anthonij Rupert Wyne on the farm, L’Ormarins in Franschhoek.
