Here are a few reflections:
Overall, I would say that our itinerary was quite full so that we were able to fit a lot into our trip, but we still had some time for moments of rest / leisure. Well done!
Our journey to Cape Town was pretty easy and the pick-up and drop off at our hotel went smoothly. The Cape Grace was beautiful and the service and food there were excellent. We enjoyed being on the Waterfront and loved visiting the Watershed where local artisans sold their pieces. We bought several things, including a beautiful original painting by a local artist and look forward to hanging it in our home.
Our days touring with Cheryl were great. We especially loved the trip down to Cape Point. The coastline there was stunningly beautiful. And the stop at the little craft shop and the ostrich farm were fun. We also loved our trip up to Table Mountain and were able to catch a magnificent sunset. Cheryl was excellent at navigating the area and taking us to different parts of the city.
We loved our stay at the Phinda Mountain Lodge. Everyone was very warm and helpful. Our cottages were great and the food was very good. Our personal helper, Else, was lovely and our guide, Lucky, and tracker, Josi, were amazing. We had so much fun with Lucky – not only was he a great ranger, but he was a delightful companion, always laughing and having fun with us. It was especially nice to share dinner with him on two of the nights. On our rides, we saw every animal we had hoped to see – elephants, giraffe, zebras, black and white rhinos, wart hogs, hippos, cheetahs, a leopard, and lots of lions – it was really incredible! Josi and Lucky were amazing at finding them, and were very informative about their habits.
For Jason’s birthday, they set up a wonderful cake and champagne stop along our evening drive which was a great surprise and really nice! The lodge was also very good at accommodating our gluten-free diet.
It really was a fantastic trip and we are very grateful for your help!
