Zarafa Camp

Overlooking the sparkling Zibadianja Lagoon, the source of the famous Savute Channel, Great Plains Zarafa Camp offers up to eight guests an intimate tented safari on the 130,000-hectare private Selinda Reserve. The environmentally sensitive design and operation of the camp means that its impact on this pristine wilderness is minimal, using a revolutionary “solar farm” to produce electricity and “bio gas” plants recycle waste into usable cooking fuel. As Botswana’s first and only Relais & Chateaux property, the four beautiful tented suites and exceptional private amenities offer guests a luxurious and indulgent safari experience.

The nearby Zarafa Dhow Suites is an entirely private safari retreat offering 2200 sq ft (210m2) of understated opulence in one of Africa’s last great untouched landscapes. With its own staff catering to a maximum of four adults and one child sharing, this property is ideal for a small group of friends or family who want to truly immerse them in the grandeur of a classic safari experience. Influenced by East African culture, with ancient Zanzibari doors adding unique flavour to the rich interiors, each bedroom has its own fireplace and copper, clawfoot tub, positioned to make the most of the views out over the lagoon. Dinner takes place either in the indoor dining room or outside, under a canopy of stars.
