Wildlife Photgrapher of the month- Shawn Benjamin

This Month we feature  wildlife photographer Shawn Benjamin. Shawn grew up in Kimberley and from a very young age was interested in all aspects of nature and photography, he contributes his passion to wildlife photography due to the fact that he was lucky enough to have the use of a Pentax K1000 when he first started talking photographs.

In his own words Shawn says: “My best subjects were people and nature, and thirty five years later they still are. After school I studied agriculture and worked in this field until I started earning more money from selling my images. As a full time photographer I cover a wide variety of photography but my favourite subjects are still people and wildlife – documentary style’’.

To date he has had commissions to photograph President Mandela, President Clinton, Maggie Thatcher, the British Royals, Lance Armstrong, Tutu, Mark Shuttelworth and many more.  In addition he also enjoys architectural photography and has been commissioned to photography some of the most expensive real estate in Cape Town.

Again in his own words Shawn states that: “I also have a particular interest and, I believe, expertise in aerial photography and it has taken me as far afield as Angola.  But my best is when I am capturing nature and people images for myself.”
