Although more relaxed and laid-back than other safari lodges in the area, Camp Kalahari is an elegant but family-friendly base for experiencing the wonders of the Makgadikgadi Pans. The thatched lapa in the main lodge area houses a dining room, library and sitting area while a shaded swimming pool on the edge of the camp is ideal for cooling off on hot afternoons. Ten Meru-style tented guest suites with comfortable beds and ensuite bathrooms provide the space for rest and relaxation.
Guests have a variety of activities to choose from each day, like quad biking into the desert, game drives in and around the Makgadikgadi Pans National Park, guided walks with Bushmen trackers and excursions to see ancient and enormous baobabs up close. The highlight for many visitors is the interaction with an adorable family of habituated meerkats who provide hours of entertainment as they forage for grubs and scorpions and play rough and tumble in the dusty salt flats.
