On Friday 7th October 2011 Madikwe Game Reserve held Madikwe’s first buffalo auction which was a HUGE SUCCESS.
Against a budget of R12 million, we generated R57 million from the sale of 46 animals. There are over 700 buffalo in the Reserve so the impact on the numbers will not be significant.
The Auction was an initiative of the Madikwe Management Forum in an attempt to find new means to generate funds to improve the services and animal stocking in the Reserve.
I would like to draw your attention to the tireless, high level involvement of Koos Potgieter from Etali Safari Lodge (Chair-Person of the forum) in this Project – where it not for his timely interventions I really don’t think this Project would have seen the light of day and I believe all Investors owe him a huge round of thanks.
